Creative Newham for SXSW!
We are incredibly excited to announce that Creative Newham chair Sanaz Amidi and Creative Newham Partnerships Manager Kate Mason are in the running to speak at SXSW festival, but they need your votes!
Their proposed fireside chat: 'Cultural Citizen Activism in Creative Spaces: A positive disruptive force for equitable change and community building' asks the vital question: What are ‘Creative Spaces’? Who are the commissioners for these spaces? Where does agency sit? Calling a space ‘creative’ does not make it creative – it is the equitable, accessible spaces that provide the conditions for people to create.
As creative industry leaders involved in place shaping, how can we be more ambitious around what is possible with creative spaces? – How do we best navigate often complicated multi-partner, cross-sector relationships to build trust and consensus. How do we collaborate to advocate for support for new sustainable models? This talk explores the tensions and opportunities in designing equitable creative spaces for everyone.
