Alexis Charles, MSc (Hons), FRSA, PGCE, DipM, is Executive Project Director of Deep Boroughs Network (DBN), a community powered co-design organisation based at The Lighthouse and Gardens, East Village, E20, working across East Village, Stratford, Carpenters Estate and West Ham. Alexis brings genuine East London lived experience, having lived locally, gone to school in the area, and graduated from Loughborough University London on Queen Elizabeth Olympic Park. A qualified Business Development Trainer and Facilitator, Alexis uses DBN's Deep Listening Framework™ for community led research that connects overlooked leaders and voices to co-design placemaking, regeneration and meanwhile-use of vacant and transitional spaces. Alexis regularly facilitates workshops that surface the real questions behind a challenge and identify who is genuinely affected by it, ensuring the right voices shape the outcome. A community partner and founding member of the London Legacy Development Corporation's (LLDC) CAN Action Group, and a Fellow of the Royal Society of Arts, Alexis champions community led decision making that moves beyond consultation to genuine co-design.
