Creative Producer - Royal Docks Team
Anila is a creative producer and curator with over two decades of experience in social arts practice, community participation and interdisciplinary cultural projects.
Currently a part-time Creative Producer with the Royal Docks Team, Anila develops collaborative cultural programmes that foster connection, inclusivity and creative participation across the Royal Docks evolving neighbourhoods. Her work includes developing Royal Docks Creative Connectors, bringing together community who live, work or study in the area and are interested in creativity to nurture social and cultural grassroots activity.
Anila co-founded Area 10 Project Space (2002–2009), an independent, artist-led cultural space in a former Peckham timber yard, providing opportunities for experimentation, collaboration and emerging creative practice. She subsequently produced I Love Peckham, a community-focused arts festival that enabled successful projects and spaces in the area, and Boundless, Southwark's disability arts festival (2006-2008).
As The Studio Curator at the Horniman Museum and Gardens, she supported their new social arts commissioning programme bringing together artists, communities and museum collections into dialogue to create public exhibitions and programmes (2016-2019).
Her wider practice includes interdisciplinary projects exploring social and cultural narratives, including Database Addiction with artist collective YoHa and In/Visible Labour, a community-led heritage project.
Throughout her career, Anila has advocated for accessible cultural spaces, championing independent voices and exploring how grassroots and marginalised communities can flourish through their cultural knowledge and contributions being recognised and celebrated.
